In The Land Of The Rising Sun [Deluxe 2 CD Set]

If there was ever a reason to celebrate a new release, this new double live CD from Prog Rock legends Renaissance fits the bill. In The Land Of The Rising Sun captures this classically trained rock band during their Tuscany tour in the Far East a couple of years ago. Complete with music from over three decades of smash albums and singles, In The Land Of The Rising Sun had only been available as a very expensive import, but now Friday Music is releasing this incredible set in North America.

Annie Haslam's magical voice opens the disc with the seventies hit Carpet Of The Sun. The familiar lyric and interplay with guitarist/composer Michael Dunford kicks this album into high gear as their Japanese fans applaud in approval. This classic track from the Ashes Are Burning, as well as every other tune from this live album receive the five star treatment as only Renaissance can provide.

Their latest studio effort Tuscany is well represented here with new interpretations of Lady From Tuscany, Dear Landseer and One Thousand Roses. Core band members Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford and Terrence Sullivan musically developed a wide range of great recordings over the years, but most fans will tell you that these gems from Tuscany are some of their finest works ever. We think you will agree.

Extensive productions like the 20 minute Ashes Are Burning, Mother Russia and A Trip To The Fair will recall the glory days of progressive rock radio and how all of these songs were mandatory listening in their day. These latest arrangements will transport the listener to a time when album radio had no problem playing masterpieces like these. Now, you can enjoy them once again in their full digital glory.

In The Land Of The Rising Sun wouldn't be complete without the beautiful artwork by Renaissance's own Annie Haslam. Haslam is now an acclaimed artist throughout the world and you can visit her gallery on line at www.anniehaslam.com. Her art is wonderful eye candy and integrates wonderfully with the music on this extensive 2-disc set. In The Land Of The Rising Sun will make a wonderful holiday gift for someone you know and will provide years of musical enjoyment. Cheers!

Tuscany

Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford and Terrence Sullivan, known to the world as Renaissance deliver one of their finest efforts to date entitled Tuscany. Complete with ten new beautiful songs, filled with the haunting musical interplay of the band and the mystical operatic voice of the enchanting Annie Haslam, the North American fan base will finally get to hear an album that has been only available overseas as an expensive import.

Recorded a few years ago, Renaissance journeyed to Kent, England to begin the sessions for this masterpiece and they delivered what we feel are some of their best music since their hugely successful Schehrazade, Ashes Are Burning and Novella albums.

The journey begins with the fine Lady From Tuscany, complete with Haslam's soaring voice over an orchestral setting "Closer than anyone, Legend surrounds her, Water no fire, Lady like no other." The classic Renaissance sound truly returns with this magical track.

Roy Wood (The Move, ELO, Wizzard) has a guest appearance here on one of the more beautiful songs on the album In The Sunshine. If there ever was a classic English countryside sound, this song will give the listener that wonderful vision. Complete with the wall of sound effect, the pounding rhythm and chorus, French horns, In The Sunshine will leave the listener in awe of this legendary band. The emotional lyrics tell the story "So look into the sky, We share the moon and stars, For all eternity."

Annie Haslam is currently on tour with a multi-media show, which merges her musical artistry with her much applauded paintings. She is featuring songs from this fine effort in her concert. Eva's Pond is one of the concert favorites. "Guard us, keep us, Guide us, sleepless." Gentle vocals with the keyboard styling of Mickey Simmonds, truly a memorable moment from the magical Tuscany CD.

Tuscany is now released for their very loyal North American Renaissance fans. Complete with lyrics to sing along with and beautiful artwork from Spencer Zhan, Tuscany is truly a journey worth taking. Pour a glass and enjoy!
