Deep Purple
Slaves And Masters/The Deluxe Edition
(Original Recording Remastered)

Since 1968, Deep Purple has been one of the finest iconic bands in all of rock music. While delivering a plethora of top selling albums and sold out tours year after year, the quintet has been a mainstay and quite frankly a force that its fans could always count on. Even with its several legendary line-ups over the years, the consistency of each of its important members has been nothing more than extraordinary, which leads us to the brilliant Slaves And Masters album from 1990.

Featuring the Mark V line up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice, the late Jon Lord, Roger Glover and new addition hard rocker Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Fandango), Slaves And Masters was a nice way to kick in a new decade with this one time configuration. Most notably hard rocking tracks like Fire In The Basement, King Of Dreams and the international hit power ballad Love Conquers All helped make this a much played album at rock radio from day one of its release. Even through all their well-documented changes over the years, Deep Purple as reigning kings of hard rock and heavy metal shined through on this album. It’s easy to hear why... the familiarity of the band was still there with its guitar shredding maestro Ritchie Blackmore, the powerful drum sound of Ian Paice, Jon Lord’s iconic keyboard work, Roger Glover’s slammin’ bass, and Joe Lynn Turner’s hard rockin’ vocals, Slaves And Masters was a winning affair.

Friday Music has been reissuing most of Deep Purple's catalog for several years, and it is our pleasure to continue that tradition with the wonderful Slaves And Masters/The Deluxe Edition. The hard rockin’ nine song masterwork is now expanded with two rarities Slow Down Sister (B side of Love Conquers All 12” & 45) and the hard to find 45 edit of Love Conquers All as well as including rare RCA label memorabilia to enhance your listening experience. Rock on!

Burn (180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl)

For 1973's Burn, Deep Purple founders Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice and Jon Lord recruited the amazing vocal talents of rising new comer David Coverdale (Whitesnake & Coverdale/Page) and power bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (Trapeze/Black Sabbath/Hughes Turner Project/Black Country Communion) for what turned out to be one of their best known and respected albums in their huge catalog.

Commonly referred to Purple fans as the Mark III line up, this dream team to this day is often considered one of the finest hard rock outfits of all time. The term arena act began with bands like Deep Purple in the sixties and seventies, and these masters of the game have carried the torch ever since!

Who Do We Think We Are (180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl)

1973's Who Do We Think We Are was another platinum plus venture for Deep Purple. While always being on top of their game, with multi-smash albums and huge arena concert tours, this was the last album to feature the legendary line-up of Ian Gillian, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Ian Paice and Jon Lord.

Woman From Toyko was another anthem smash for the band as it helped soar this album to the upper rungs of album and radio airplay charts worldwide. The thunderous drum and bass interplay, along with Blackmore's familiar guitar riff, set this album off to a grand start, and even three decades later, it still has people stomping their feet and dancing to the groove.

Other killer tracks like Rat Bat Blue, Super Trouper and Our Lady rank this album as one of their best and truly a fan favorite from these legendary metal kings.

The Friday Music catalog is no stranger to Deep Purple, and it is with great pride and honor to announce the Deep Purple 180 Gram Audiophile Series, as we kick things off with Who Do We Think We Are. Mastered from the original Warner Bros. tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Mastering in Hollywood, CA.

Stormbringer

The first in the series of three new Deep Purple remastered discs, Stormbringer the hugely successful Deep Purple album, marks its first remastered release to a North American audience, after being out of print for almost two decades.

Recorded in 1974 as a follow-up to their multi-platinum release Burn, Richie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice and Jon Lord forged ahead with a harder sound and continued their assault on audiences worldwide with Stormbringer.

With an apocalyptic entrance, the title track Stormbringer kicks the album into a full gear. Blackmore, known for creating some of the finest and most familiar riffs in music history, continues his legendary roll with this metal anthem. Coverdale notches up another career defining song as well, which has followed him through his amazing run with Deep Purple and his own successful arena band Whitesnake.

Eight more incredible performances continue to thrill the listener including the Glenn Hughes melodic classic Holy Man and the rocking Lady Double Dealer, which features the solid back beat of Ian Paice and Jon Lord, which became one of the more lasting tracks in their long list of fan favorites.

The bluesy ballad Soldier Of Fortune showcases the strength of David Coverdale's writing and vocal ability, and is a fine close out to this sorely missed album. Newly remastered from the impeccable Warner Music vaults, welcome back this much heralded album for the first time on CD in almost two decades.

Come Taste The Band

As a third installment from the highly successful Warner Bros. label era recordings of Deep Purple, Come Taste The Band finally sees a compact disc release for the first time in almost two decades. Newly remastered from the original Warner Music vault tapes, this rocking first and sadly final album from the Mark IV line-up introduces the late great Tommy Bolin on lead guitar along with David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, and the founders Jon Lord and Ian Paice.

Things kick off with the fireball laden Comin' Home. A rip roaring keyboard from Jon Lord, and David Coverdale's vocals truly define the spirit and integrity of these hard rock champions. And this is just the first song... hang on!

The multi-talented Glenn Hughes continues his resume of signature tunes as the hit single from the album Getting' Tighter follows a long line of Deep Purple classics. Bolin's bluesy feel and Paice's rhythmic drum patterns made this a very good listen then, as it is today. A definitive stand-out track.

For the prog-rock crowd, the Purple develop two songs into one This Time Around/Owed To G. For the money, this dual exercise in style and world class musicianship stands as a cornerstone for this album and for this era of the band. Lord's flawless playing, Bolin's ability to create different tones and Paice's accents truly built this as one of the more defining moments from this recording.

Shortly after this recording, Tommy Bolin had died and Deep Purple took a break as a unit from recording for almost another decade. But before they moved on, they left us with one incredible recording called Come Taste The Band. Out of print for almost two decades, now back, newly remastered and sounding better than ever. Enjoy!

Made In Europe

After years of mystery in the vaults, our great friends at Warner Music/Rhino have given us the keys to open up the magical hard rock kingdom of Deep Purple once again as we proudly re-release their incredible live recording Made In Europe. This new remaster was is a fine sequel to their Made In Japan album, as it captured the new Mark III line up's excellent moments from the Burn and Stormbringer projects.

Richie Blackmore's famous opening riff kicks things into gear as Burn opens the album. The dual vocals of David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes ushered in a ton of praise throughout their amazing run together in the Purple, but this particular tune truly defines the spirit of this band as it became one of the more famous songs in the bands lengthy discography.

Never fear founder Jon Lord gets his solo on You Fool No One this extended version showcases his wonderful keyboard work, as Ian Paice delivers the stunning back beat throughout the song. Again, another career defining moment from the vast Deep Purple catalog of songs. This live version takes the tune to another level indeed.

Stormbringer gets an anthem-like delivery from the band as Mr. Coverdale carries the beginning of this strong track with Glenn Hughes following with his incredible rocking harmony vocal style.

This album marks the last recordings of the Warner Music era with Richie Blackmore, as he left the band to pursue his incredible run with Rainbow, and to later re-join Deep Purple in the early 80s for their reunion tour and subsequent albums for several more years.

As a lasting statement of the energy of these metal rock founders, Made In Europe captures the energy of this band in a long lost era of great rock music. Fortunately, it was caught on tape over thirty years ago, and Friday Music has rescued it for the North American fans of this legendary band. Welcome back Deep Purple's Made In Europe newly remastered and sounding better than ever.
