Tommy
Bolin was one of
the music world’s most
gifted
guitarists in recent memory. His prolific career spanned only a few short years, but he was unique, one of a kind, and truly one of the
more sorely missed musicians of the classic rock era.
While remastering Deep Purple’s Come Taste The Band album a few months ago, I felt the album notes needed some sort of added insider
take on the recording sessions. I contacted The Tommy Bolin Archives company, and our good friends Barry Simons and Michael Drumm
hooked me up with Tommy’s younger brother Johnnie Bolin (Black Oak Arkansas/The Tommy Bolin Band). He was very gracious to add some
very cool notes to our new Deep Purple album, which detailed a very interesting first meeting with the biggest band in the world and this young
kid from Sioux City.
It now comes with great anticipation and extreme pride that Friday Music in now the home of the Tommy Bolin Archives. Over the next several
months, you will begin to be able to purchase a lot of his music here at the Fridaymusic.com site, as well as thru all of our wonderful retail
partners.
We are beginning the TBA series in the 21st century, since he was so ahead of his time anyway, in the digital format. Alas, the nice handful of
digital tracks at your fingertips now. In the new year and beyond, you will see wonderful new physical cd releases and even more digital
albums as we begin to unleash the many hours of unreleased studio, live and jam oriented material from Tommy’s personal stash.
Again, we are very proud to have Tommy Bolin on board here at Friday Music.
We think the music will tell you a lot about this master musician, guitarist, songwriter, and classic performer who shined on our planet for a very
short time, but his impact will live on forever.
Peace,
Friday Music, Inc.
