When
Burt Bacharach creates music,
whether for his own albums or for others to interpret, everyone
listens. When his music graces the scores of major motion pictures
like 1981’s ARTHUR, everyone
applauded and the title song
Arthur’s
Theme (The Best That You Can Do) by
Christopher
Cross became an anthem that
year, both on radio and at the box office; while the critics agreed
as the tune went on to collect a treasure trove of awards.
The
compact disc was still being developed and really wasn’t
in retail until several years later, and for some reason, Arthur-The
Album never got released in this format... that is until
now. Friday Music is very pleased to announce that we are now
the home of Arthur-The Album.
For this special debut c.d. release, you get the original graphics,
new liner notes, memorabilia, and an impeccable remastering fit
for a king by Joe Reagoso (Doobie
Brothers, Hall
And Oates, Christopher Cross,
Boz Scaggs, America).
To
make this an extra special happening, we have located the original
liner notes for the album in the Warner Music archives, and
have included them in the packaging, as well as here for you
to have some fun checking out, as we eagerly await the September
29th street date:

Arthur-The
Album somewhat resembles its bachelor parent "Arthur"
the movie. It is an original sound track album and more.
Burt Bacharach scored the music for the motion picture.
When a composer whose credits include Walk
On By, Alfie, Do
You Know The Way To San Jose, What
The World Needs Now Is Love, This
Guy’s
In Love With You, Raindrops
Keep Falling On My Head and the film music to Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance Kid writes a new musical
score, a variety of artists sit up and take notice. They
loved Burt’s
music and they loved the film. As a result, what we have
assembled here is ARTHUR the sound track album and ARTHUR
the record. It contains vocal performances inspired by
Burt’s
themes in the motion picture-songs performed and/or co-written
by Ambrosia, Stephen
Bishop, Christopher Cross, Nicolette
Larson, and Carole Bayer
Sager. So, if you loved the movie,
now you can love ARTHUR, THE
ALBUM.
